Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi injured his right eye in a car accident when he was only twenty. The wind shield of the car had shattered in the crash and a shard of glass had entered his right eye. The removal of this piece of glass from his eye resulted in impaired vision. With the help of contact lens, he could see but he could see double of everything. In spite of this mishap, he never thought for a minute that he would not be able to play cricket again.
Like his doctor had told him, he found it easier to bowl with one eye. He pulled his cap down over his damaged eye and focused with the other eye. Three or four weeks after his accident, he was back at the nets, practising his bowling and six months after his accident, he made his Test debut against England in Delhi. He is still the youngest Test captain India has ever had.
